Four Fairfax County Technology Firms to Vie for Venture Capital at D.C. Event
Angel-backed firms seek institutional investment
Fairfax County, Virginia, April 24, 2000 Four angel-backed Fairfax County companies are set to pursue their first round of institutional venture capital funding at the Venture One Premiere fair April 25 and 26 at the Washington Monarch Hotel, 2401 M St. NW.
Venture One Premiere is a national event sponsored by Venture One, a venture-oriented investment research firm founded in 1987. About 60 Internet, information technology and health-care companies from around the country will make presentations to venture capitalists. The four Fairfax County companies are among 10 from Virginia that will attend. All the Virginia companies hail from northern Virginia.
"Once again northern Virginia leads the way with all 10 of Virginia's entries, and once again Fairfax County firms are leading the pack from northern Virginia," said Gerald L. Gordon, president of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.
The Fairfax County companies, their business lines and Web site addresses are:
- Sideout Technologies: B2B software applications;
- Intelligenx: Internet search technology;
- OPTIM Systems Inc.: Application servers;
- SeniorPath.com: Senior citizen-oriented content;
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) operates an aggressive capital attraction program to assist entrepreneurs by bringing them together with venture capitalists and angel organizations; and to increase venture activity in the county.
