Six Fairfax County Companies to Make Presentations at Atlanta Venture Capital Fair
Fairfax County, Virginia, February 28, 2000 Six Fairfax County technology companies will try to secure venture capital at Venture Market South this week in Atlanta.
At the event, 44 companies from around the South will make presentations about their products and services to potential investors. The Fairfax County companies are:
- Capterra of Falls Church.
- i411.com of Chantilly.
- iClique of Vienna of Tysons Corner.
- iKimbo of Reston.
- New World Apps of Vienna (Tysons Corner).
- Singleshop.com of Reston.
Through its Capital Attraction Program, the FCEDA nominated several of these companies for the fair.
Venture Market South is hosted by Red Herring magazine, which hosts similar forums elsewhere in the U.S. and in Europe. The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) is a co-sponsor of the Red Herring events.
Since 1996, the FCEDA has run an aggressive capital attraction program with two goals: link entrepreneurs and start-up technology companies with investors, and promote Fairfax County as a site for venture capital deal-flow.
Venture investment in Fairfax County companies totaled $615 million in 1999, up from $187 million in 1998 and $101 million in 1997. Twenty venture capital firms have offices in Fairfax County.
