Fairfax County EDA Sponsors IT World Congress in Taiwan
Gates, Fiorina, Chambers, Gilmore headline event
Fairfax County, Virginia, June 9, 2000 Fairfax County Economic Development Authority officials will join more than 1,400 technology executives from around the world in Taipei, Taiwan, June 12-14 for the 2000 World Congress on Information Technology. The FCEDA is a lead sponsor of the event.
The World Congress, organized by the Fairfax County-based World Information Technology and Services Alliance, is the preeminent global IT forum for networking, discussion, analysis and industry planning. George Mason University in Fairfax County hosted the 1998 World Congress.
The theme of this year's World Congress is "IT for a Better World A New Millennium. Keynote speeches by Bill Gates, chairman and CEO of Microsoft, Carleton Fiorina, president and CEO of Hewlett Packard, John Chambers, president and CEO of Cisco Systems, and Virginia Gov. James Gilmore will headline the event.
Gerald L. Gordon, president of the FCEDA, said he is excited to attend the event. "By hosting the World Congress two years ago, Fairfax County gained tremendous visibility in the IT community," he said. "In order to follow up we have become sponsors of the 2000 World Congress. It gives us immediate access to 1,400 technology executives from more than 65 countries."
Other area sponsors this year include the George Mason University School of Management, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the law firm of McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe International LLP.
