Fairfax County Lands Another Corporate Headquarters

TASC relocates from Massachusetts to be near clients

Fairfax County, Virginia, June 19, 2000 — TASC Inc., a Litton Industries subsidiary that specializes in systems engineering and information management solutions for customers in the defense and intelligence communities, has moved its headquarters to Fairfax County from the Boston area.

The move, which is effective immediately, comes as TASC today opens a 79,000-square foot building in Chantilly, Virginia, that will be the company's new headquarters. TASC occupies another building across the street from the new headquarters in the Westfields Corporate Center, and has operations elsewhere in Chantilly, Herndon and Lorton, all part of Fairfax County, and in Arlington, Virginia.

"More than 60 percent of our customers are in northern Virginia," said James H. Frey, Litton vice president and TASC president.  "The most visible way to demonstrate our commitment to them and be on equal footing with competitors is to establish our headquarters here. It's part of the natural evolution of our business."

"We're delighted to have another headquarters operation in Fairfax County, especially a company of TASC's renown," said Gerald L. Gordon, president of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. "It adds greater credibility of Fairfax County as the premier East Coast location for this type of company."

The Chantilly headquarters will eventually house about 350 people. More than 1,500 TASC employees work across northern Virginia. No one is being relocated or laid off from the company's Reading, Mass., location.

At today's ceremony, Frey will open e-mail from Gov. James Gilmore and U.S. Sen. John Warner welcoming TASC to Virginia. Dignitaries expected to attend the event include U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf and Fairfax County officials.

TASC provides advanced information technology solutions for government and business worldwide in such areas as systems development, signals intelligence, federal services, space systems, and information services. Founded in 1966, Litton TASC has more than 25 offices throughout the United States.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) assisted TASC with its relocation decision. The FCEDA (www.fairfaxcountyEDA.org) provides services and information designed to promote Fairfax County as a leading technology hub and a world-class center of commerce and trade.

In addition to domestic and international marketing staffs, the FCEDA runs an aggressive capital attraction program to link entrepreneurs and start-up firms with venture capitalists and angel investors. Another program assists small, minority- and women-owned businesses. The FCEDA also maintains marketing offices in London, Tokyo and Frankfurt.
