Eight Fairfax County Companies Honored at Awards Luncheon

Firms feted for customer and community service   

Fairfax County, Virginia, May 19, 2000 — Eight Fairfax County companies today were honored today by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce for their commitment to customer and community service.

The eight companies received 2000 Blue Diamond awards during a luncheon at the Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner, part of the Chamber's Salute to Excellence series. The event attended by more than 600 Fairfax County business leaders featured Tom Curley, publisher of USA Today, the nation's largest newspaper.

Judges named the winners from 25 finalists. The award categories and the winning companies are:

Business Partner, for a company that has demonstrated its commitment to partnership with or support of small and/or minority businesses: Freddie Mac.

New Business, for a business that started within three years, has stabilized its financial position and shown steady growth in sales: Revenue Recovery Consultants Inc.

High School Entrepreneur, for a successful business created by a full-time Fairfax County high school student: Kidz Online.

Corporate Citizen, for a company that has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to the community above and beyond its business contributions: First Virginia Bank.

Information Technology (greater than $10 million in annual revenue), for a company that has developed and produced a revolutionary or innovative technology product or service: STG Inc.

Information Technology (less than $10 million in annual revenue): Hubbard & Revo-Cohen.

Quality First (greater than $10 million in annual revenue), for a business that provides high quality customer service above and beyond industry standards: JK Moving & Storage Inc.

Quality First (less than $10 million in annual revenue): Hill Corporate Art.

"The Economic Development Authority is proud to be able to honor these outstanding businesses for their commitment to serving their customers and their community," said Gerald L. Gordon, president of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.

"The Fairfax County Chamber is proud to partner with the Economic Development Authority to honor these outstanding business leaders and companies for their exemplary commitment to excellence," said Chamber Chairman James W. Dyke. "Selected by their peers from throughout the metropolitan Washington region, these Blue Diamond Award winners are truly the benchmark for business and civic leadership."
