AOL's Leonsis to Keynote Red Herring Venture Capital Conference in Fairfax County
Computer security, life science and infrastructure experts also to speak; 15 start-ups to pitch goods and services, FCEDA says
Fairfax County, Virginia, October 15, 2001 Ted Leonsis, vice chairman, America Online Inc. and president of AOL Advanced Services Group, will be the keynote speaker at Red Herring's Fairfax County Porfolio venture capital and business investment conference set for November 5 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Tysons Corner.
Other speakers at the conference will be Bruce Schneier, founder and CTO of Counterpane Internet Security; Richard Garr, CEO of NeuralSTEM; Dean Douglas, general manager, wireless e-business, IBM Global Services; Anthony Perkins, chairman, founder and editor-in-chief of Red Herring magazine; and Gerald Gordon, president and CEO of the FCEDA.
Red Herring designed the conference to recognize and focus on the technology sectors burgeoning in Fairfax County and the surrounding area. Fifteen tech start-ups selected by the magazine's editors will present business plans in the fields of infrastructure and wireless technology, security, and life sciences.
"As the technology center of the Washington area and the premiere place in the region to bring entrepreneurs and investors together, Fairfax County is the natural place to hold this event," said Gerald L. Gordon, president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA). The FCEDA (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) is a leading sponsor of the event.
