FCEDA, VDBA and SBA offer tips on starting a business in Fairfax County

Free monthly seminars showcase resources available for entrepreneurs

Fairfax County, Virginia, April 1, 2003—The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), the Virginia Department of Business Assistance (VDBA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), are conducting once-a-month seminars called "Starting a Business in Fairfax County" to help entrepreneurs.

The seminars are held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at FCEDA headquarters, 8300 Boone Boulevard, Suite 450, Vienna (Tysons Corner), Virginia. The sessions are free, but participants should register in advance.

During the sessions, FCEDA staff members discuss county licenses and permits. VDBA officials discuss state work force service programs and training information, and SBA officials discuss federal resources for new businesses.

"Fairfax County is the best place in the nation for any new business to grow and succeed, and these seminars are an important way for entrepreneurs to get started on the right foot," said Gerald L. Gordon, president and CEO of the FCEDA.

For more information about the seminars or to register, call Karen Smaw, FCEDA director of small and minority business development, at 703-790-0600 or e-mail her at ksmaw@fceda.org.
