FCEDA's Gordon Named Outstanding Public Sector Advocate for Northern Virginia Workforce Development
Awarded presented by the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board.
Fairfax County, Virginia, November 12, 2003 - The Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board presented its the 2003 Northern Virginia Workforce Leadership Award to Gerald Gordon, president of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. Dr. Gordon was named Outstanding Public Sector Advocate for Northern Virginia Workforce Development by the group at the 2003 Annual Community Forum on November 13, 2003 at the Reston Hyatt Regency.
“The Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board is very pleased to recognize and highlight excellence in workforce development initiatives and practices, by both organizations and individuals alike,” said David Hunn, Executive Director of the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board. “All of the 2003 Workforce Award winners have made substantial contributions to enhancing the utilization of the Northern Virginia SkillSource Centers by jobseekers and businesses and to improving the quality of regional workforce efforts. We are fortunate to have leaders such as these award winners in our region."

- Dr. Edgar B. Hatrick, Superintendent, Loudoun County Public Schools
NVWIB Youth Workforce Leadership Award
- Northern Virginia Technology Council Foundation
NVWIB Special Recognition Award
- The Training Futures Program, administered by Northern Virginia Family Service
The Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board (NVWIB) provides policy oversight and direction to the regional workforce system that serves the counties of Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William, as well as the cities of Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, and Manassas Park. Northern Virginia’s Workforce Investment System is an integrated network made up of many groups—businesses, current and future employees, organized labor, education and training institutions, community support organizations, and public employment services. The network is collaborating to anticipate and prepare for significant workforce trends and realities.
