Fairfax County EDA to Sponsor COVITS 2004 – ‘Virginia: Portal to the Emerging Global Marketplace’
September event in Norfolk, Virginia, to focus on trends in defense, medical, communications, manufacturing, education and IT industries
Fairfax County, Virginia, April 1, 2004 – Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), announced today that the FCEDA has agreed to be a sponsor of COVITS 2004, scheduled for September 26-28 in Norfolk, Virginia.
COVITS, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Information Technology Symposium, annually brings together senior-level executives and thought leaders from business, government and academia around the world to identify, discuss and propose solutions to critical technology issues. Virginia’s Secretary of Technology, George C. Newstrom, hosts the conference on behalf of Gov. Mark R. Warner.
Newstrom said COVITS 2004 will bring together executives at the forefront of change in business, academia and government to examine the critical technology challenges of today and the “art of the possible.”
“Virginia has been in a leader in the technological wave of the last generation, and we support any efforts that will keep the Commonwealth in the forefront and attractive to companies that will continue to make Virginia a leading business and technology center,” Gordon said.
