Fairfax County EDA, Ibero Chamber host forum on homeland security procurement
Emerging Business Forum returns with targeted sessions; Vietnam-era POW will deliver keynote address
Fairfax County, Virginia, April 26, 2004 – The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) and the Greater Washington Ibero American Chamber of Commerce will host “Opportunities in Homeland Security,” an Emerging Business Forum session on Wednesday, April 28. The forum will highlight homeland security procurement opportunities for Hispanic-owned companies.
Dan Sturdivant, assistant to the director of outreach programs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will discuss contracting opportunities there. Businessman Will Soza will discuss “Doing Business in Fairfax County.” Soza, a member of the FCEDA Commission, last year sold Soza and Company, his successful accounting and IT contracting business, to Perot Systems. He now owns Soza Associates P.C.
Keynote speaker Everett Alvarez, president of business consulting firm Conwal Inc. and the first American pilot shot down during the Vietnam War, will deliver the keynote address. He was held captive in North Vietnam for eight years. Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerry Connolly will give welcoming remarks.
