Fairfax County hosts Argentine IT companies looking for U.S. partners and customers
Mission from South America offers chance to build new relationships
Fairfax County, Virginia, March 29, 2004 – The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) will host meetings on March 30 for nine Argentine information technology companies looking to establish partnerships, customers and strategic alliances with American firms.
The meetings with Virginia companies are part of a three-day mission organized for the Argentine companies by the Embassy of Argentina in Washington, D.C. Products and services that could create partnerships include software development, e-learning systems, call centers, systems for oil and industrial process, and financial administration.
“For us the big benefit is building relationships with Argentine companies and letting them know what Fairfax County offers so they will consider us when they want to expand into the U.S. market,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA.
Argentina has developed a significant IT industry and is aggressively pursuing opportunities in foreign markets. During the last decade, Argentina developed a state-of-the-art IT and telecommunications infrastructure, which combined with competitive costs, high Internet usage and a growing economy set a promising stage for continued fast-growing technology development and opportunities for Virginia companies.
The Northern Virginia Technology Council’s International Committee will host a March 30 forum where executives from Argentine and U.S. technology companies will share their experiences of doing business in Argentina and will present the development of the Argentine IT sector. José O. Bordón, Argentina’s ambassador to the U.S., will speak at the forum.
“These organizations have been very successful in building the IT sector in northern Virginia, so it is a perfect location for our companies to look for partners,” said Alejandro Casiro, minister of the Embassy of Argentina.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists U.S. and foreign-owned businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and is a source for up-to-date demographic and economic information. The FCEDA maintains marketing offices in London, Frankfurt and Tokyo, and in 2004 will open marketing offices in Bangalore, India, and Tel Aviv, Israel.
