Eighteen Fairfax County firms make Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing U.S. companies
Washington , D.C. , region tops other metro areas with 29 ranked companies
Fairfax County, Virginia, November 2, 2004 – Eighteen Fairfax County companies – most in information technology fields – are on Inc. magazine’s 2004 list of the 500 fastest-growing privately held businesses in the country. The Fairfax firms are among 29 from the Washington, D.C., region, which had more ranked companies than any other U.S. metropolitan area. Thirty-one companies from Virginia made the list.
In 2003, 13 Fairfax County companies made the Inc. list. Only three companies – Carteret Mortgage, iDirect Technologies and Preferred Systems Solutions – made both the 2003 and 2004 lists. Inc. bases its rankings on revenue growth over five years. The 2004 Inc. list is at www.inc.com/resources/inc500/index.html.
“Fairfax County is a tremendous location to start and build a business of any kind,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “The jump in the number of Fairfax County companies on the list from 13 to 18 exemplifies the strong economic climate here – of the 500 fastest growing businesses, nearly 4 percent call Fairfax County home.”
