Booz Allen Hamilton to create up to 4,600 jobs in Fairfax County over five years
Gov. Warner announces one of the largest expansions ever in the county or Virginia
Fairfax County, Virginia, November 17, 2004 Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., one of the nation’s most prestigious management and technology consulting companies and one of the largest employers in Fairfax County, will create up to 4,600 more jobs in the county with a $133 million investment over the next five years, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) said today. The announcement is one of the largest ever in the county or the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Gov. Mark R. Warner announced the expansion at the company’s new location in the Woodland Park office park in the Herndon area of Fairfax County. Booz Allen Hamilton has been based in the Tysons Corner area of Fairfax County since relocating from Bethesda, Md., in 1992.
Booz Allen Hamilton (www.boozallen.com) will create at least 3,700 jobs over five years but that number could reach 4,600, company officials said. The new jobs will have an average annual salary of $79,000, according to the company.
“We are pleased to continue our growth in Fairfax County, which has been our headquarters for over 12 years,” said Dr. Ralph W. Shrader, chairman and CEO of Booz Allen Hamilton. “As one of the largest private employers in the county, we have found that the workforce and location are superb, and this decision is a strong vote of confidence in the future.”
Booz Allen Hamilton already has between 6,000 and 7,000 employees in Fairfax County, according to the Virginia Employment Commission. The expansion could make the company the county’s largest employer. Business growth helps Fairfax County fund public services such as the nation’s top-rated public school system that contribute to the quality of life.
“This announcement is exciting because of the number of jobs being created in Fairfax County, but also because Booz Allen Hamilton is a terrific corporate citizen,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “The company has worked very hard to be one of the best workplaces in the nation, and its employees have been active in a wide range of community activities.”
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and is a source for up-to-date demographic and economic statistics. The FCEDA’s Capital Attraction Program links technology entrepreneurs with potential investors, and another program supports the growth of small and minority-owned companies. The FCEDA maintains overseas offices in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Tel Aviv and Bangalore.
