Fairfax County businessman Michael Lewis joins FCEDA Commission
Fairfax County, Virginia, October 20, 2004 — The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed long-time businessman Michael Lewis to a three-year term on the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority Commission. The seven-member commission sets the vision and goals for the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), which promotes the county as a business and technology center. Lewis replaces Harry Doyle, who resigned from the commission after 13 years of service.
Lewis is the managing director of Liberty Capitol LLC, a finance and management consulting firm based in McLean that specializes in raising capital for small and mid-sized firms.
Lewis, a McLean resident, has been active in many local and regional business groups. He is a member of the board of directors of Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, and served as chairman of the chamber in 2002-03. He is on the board of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance.
Prior to joining Liberty Capitol, Lewis spent 12 years as chief enterprise officer for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the largest aerospace professional organization in the world. Prior to joining AIAA, Lewis spent 13 years with the advertising and communications firms of J. Walter Thompson and Stackig, Sanderson and White.
“I am honored to serve and support the mission of the EDA,” Lewis said. “As a long-time advocate of promoting business and economic development in Fairfax County, I am eager to help the EDA meet its goals and objectives to ensure our community remains as one of the top destinations in the world to do business.”
“Mike has been involved with the FCEDA and the community for more than 20 years and brings to the Commission a number of perspectives that are critical to our operation. I’m looking forward to working with him,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA.
