Network engineering company Digicon relocates headquarters to Fairfax County
Move gets company closer to commercial and government clients
Fairfax County, Virginia, December 27, 2005— Digicon Corporation, a privately held network engineering, software and telecommunications services company, announced the relocation of its corporate headquarters to Fairfax County after being based in Montgomery County, Maryland, for 20 years.
Digicon moved its headquarters operations to office space housing other employees and a full-time network operations center at 460 Herndon Parkway in the Fairfax County community of Herndon. With the relocation of headquarters staff, the company now employs more than 80 professionals in Fairfax County, more than 100 at customer sites in the Washington, D.C., area, and others located at customer sites around the country.
Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, said Digicon’s move illustrates the strength and diversity of the Fairfax County economy. “Our 4,700 technology businesses are as much a draw for many companies as our proximity to the nation’s capital and the great quality of life here,” Gordon said.
Company President John Wu said Digicon moved its headquarters to Fairfax County, just outside Washington, to improve access to a variety of customers. “We have a lot of commercial opportunities here as well as government contracts,” Wu said. “We have increased partnership activities with software, security and telecommunications companies.”
Digicon (www.digicon.com) was founded in 1985 to provide networking software services to government and industry clients. Digicon expanded its core services in management consulting, computer services, engineering services, and research and development activities to include networking and telecommunications capabilities.
Business growth helps Fairfax County fund public services, such as the nation’s top-rated school system, that contribute to the quality of life of its residents. Fairfax County offers businesses a state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure, access to domestic and international markets through Washington Dulles International Airport, and a well-educated workforce.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and is a source for up-to-date demographic and economic information. The FCEDA’s Capital Attraction Program links technology entrepreneurs with potential investors. Another program supports the growth of minority and woman-owned businesses. The FCEDA maintains overseas marketing offices in Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
