Sign points to FCEDA prominence in the Fairfax County business community
Authority’s name goes up in lights on its building in Tysons Corner
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, July 18, 2005 – The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) has worked for almost 30 years to help companies locate and expand in Fairfax County. Now the FCEDA’s name is in lights – in a lighted sign on the side of the Tysons Corner building where the authority is based.
The backlit sign on the American Center East building at 8300 Boone Boulevard is visible from Leesburg Pike (Route 7) in Tysons Corner, which is the largest central business district in Fairfax County. The FCEDA has leased office space in the building since 1985.
“We’ve worked hard to help companies grow to the point where their names are on their buildings. Now the FCEDA has a sign that reflects our success in building a stable and diversified economy and helps us build a stronger awareness of the work we do to build a stronger business community and a community with an enviable quality of life,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA.
Business growth helps Fairfax County fund public services such as the nation’s top-rated public school, library, public safety, social services and park systems that improve the quality of life. Fairfax County offers businesses a state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure, access to domestic and international markets through Washington Dulles International Airport and a well-educated workforce. The Fairfax County community of Vienna is one of Money magazine’s Best Places to Live for 2005.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and provides demographic and economic statistics. The FCEDA’s Capital Attraction Program links technology entrepreneurs with potential investors, and another program supports the growth of small and minority-owned companies. The FCEDA maintains overseas offices in Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
