Eleven Fairfax County companies named to Hispanic Business top 500 list
Many are tech firms; Ranking of largest firms includes 29 from Washington region
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, June 6, 2005 Eleven Fairfax County-based companies, many of them in technology fields, are included in the latest Hispanic Business magazine rankings of the 500 largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States. The list is in the June issue of Hispanic Business. Rankings are based on 2004 company revenues.
Including those from Fairfax County, 17 Virginia companies are on the list. Eight companies are from Maryland and four are from Washington, D.C.
The Fairfax County businesses on the 2005 list and their rankings:
“Hispanic-owned businesses in Fairfax County are successful for the same reasons as other companies. If you have a good product or service, work hard and are smart, your chances of succeeding in Fairfax County are stronger than elsewhere because there’s enormous opportunity here,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA).
Fairfax County is home to six companies on Black Enterprise magazine’s 2005 list of the 100 largest African American-owned companies. Fairfax County also is home to six of the 100 largest Asian American-owned businesses in the U.S., according to DiversityBusiness.com.
Business growth helps Fairfax County fund public services such as the nation’s top-rated public school systems that contribute to the quality of life. Fairfax County offers businesses a state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure, access to domestic and international markets through Washington Dulles International Airport and a well-educated workforce.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and provides demographic and economic statistics. The FCEDA’s Capital Attraction Program links technology entrepreneurs with potential investors, and another program supports the growth of small and minority-owned companies. The FCEDA maintains overseas offices in Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
