Senior UK and US IT officials to outline mutual opportunities at FCEDA business networking event

London, November 15, 2005 -- Two of the most senior Government IT officials in Britain and America next week will outline to businessmen and women from across the UK the huge opportunities and benefits available from doing business with government.

Speaking at a high profile networking event hosted by Fairfax County ( Virginia) Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) and BritishAmerican Business Inc (BABi) will be Mr Ian Watmore, CIO, UK Government and Mr Timothy Young, Associate Administrator, Executive Office of the US President, E-Government and IT, one of the top IT gurus in Washington.

The title of the event, being held at The Old Hall at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn on November 15th, will be “IT Opportunities in the UK and US”. The speakers will offer top level guidance on how to win IT contracts from both the UK Government and the US Government from Federal down to the State and County level.

More than 150 executives and other senior businessmen and women from all over the UK are expected to attend.

Also attending will be the President of the FCEDA, Dr Gerald Gordon, and FCEDA’s Vice President Marketing and Director, International Division, Catherine Riley.

“Having both Ian Watmore and Timothy Young speaking to so many senior UK business executives is an excellent opportunity to accelerate commerce between our two countries,” said Dr Gordon. “The possibilities on both sides of the Atlantic are impressive, and we are delighted to host an event that can lead to business connections and contracts.”

Mr Young will also speak on November 14 th in Birmingham to local business executives at a seminar organised by the BritishAmerican Business Council.

The FCEDA (http://www.fairfaxcountyeda.org/) has been instrumental over the years in attracting UK businesses wanting to expand into the lucrative American market. Almost 50 UK companies are already doing business in the County which is just outside Washington, D.C.

The FCEDA works closely with the UKTI and other key UK technology groups including the UK Science Park Association, the UK Business Incubators, Regional Development Authorities, UK-US trade organisations and a variety of business groups.
