Twenty-six Fairfax County companies among fastest growing in D.C. area
FCEDA organizes Nov. 29 event to honor fastest-growing companies from across northern Virginia
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, November 23, 2005 Twenty-six Fairfax County-based companies and seven from elsewhere in northern Virginia are among the 50 fastest growing companies in the Washington, D.C., area, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Michael J. Schewel and local government and economic development officials will congratulate the northern Virginia companies at a reception set for 2 p.m. November 29 at the Tower Club, 8000 Towers Crescent Drive, Suite 1700, Vienna (Tysons Corner). The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) is organizing and hosting the event.
In addition to the 26 companies from Fairfax County, four are from Arlington County and one each hail from Prince William County and the cities of Fairfax and Manassas. The Washington Business Journal based its list on average annual revenue growth between 2002 and 2004. In 2004, 19 Fairfax County companies were named to the list.
“These companies are a perfect illustration of the diversified economy in Fairfax County,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA. “In addition to a number of technology firms, several of the companies are involved in residential or commercial real estate, and the finance and services sectors.”
Business growth helps Fairfax County fund public services, such as the nation’s top-rated school system, that contribute to the quality of life of its residents. Fairfax County offers businesses a state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure, access to domestic and international markets through Washington Dulles International Airport, and a well-educated workforce.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and is a source for up-to-date demographic and economic information. The FCEDA’s Capital Attraction Program links technology entrepreneurs with potential investors. Another program supports the growth of minority and woman-owned businesses. The FCEDA maintains overseas marketing offices in Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
