“Starting a Business in Fairfax County” seminars continue in the fall
Workshops assist entrepreneurs with needed information
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, August 17, 2006 - After a summer hiatus, the popular “Entrepreneurship 101: Starting a Business in Fairfax County” seminars resume with three seminars scheduled for the fall. The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) conducts the workshop for individuals interested in beginning a business in Fairfax County.
Workshop dates for the remainder of 2006 are September 12, October 3 and November 7. Dates for the first half of 2007 are January 9, February 6, March 6, April 3, May 1 and June 5.
The FCEDA hosts the monthly sessions in partnership with the Virginia Department of Business Assistance (DBA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The sessions provide an overview of start-up basics (licenses and permits); DBA workforce service and training programs; and SBA financing and certification resources.
The workshops generally are held on the first Tuesday of each month at FCEDA headquarters, 8300 Boone Boulevard, Suite 450, in Vienna (Tysons Corner). Sessions begin at 8 a.m. with refreshments and networking. Sessions are free but pre-registration is required. Interested participants can register on the FCEDA’s Web site at www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org.
“These workshops are very popular with aspiring entrepreneurs,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “This is just one of many services that we provide to Fairfax County’s small business community.”
Business growth helps Fairfax County fund public services, such as the nation’s top-rated school system, that contribute to the quality of life of its residents. Fairfax County offers businesses a state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure, access to domestic and international markets through Washington Dulles International Airport, and a well-educated workforce.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA’s Capital Attraction Program links technology entrepreneurs with potential investors. Another program supports the growth of minority and woman-owned businesses. The FCEDA maintains offices in Silicon Valley, Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
