Fairfax County EDA works with 34 companies that will create 1,147 jobs
Service, IT firms lead job creation
Fairfax County , Virginia, May 4, 2006 - Nearly 1,150 jobs were or will be added to the Fairfax County economy by 34 companies that used Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) services and resources during the first quarter of 2006. Many of the firms announcing new jobs are from IT and services fields.
Among service-oriented companies that will add jobs in Fairfax County:
- Sunrise Senior Living, the largest provider of senior living services in the country, will add 114 jobs to its payroll.
- Source Maintenance, which provides maintenance services to retail stores, will add 110 jobs.
- Human resources outsourcing firm YRCI will add 80 jobs.
- Construction firm Comstock Homebuilding will add 88 new jobs in the next year.
"The number of service oriented firms in this quarter’s announcement list shows the depth and breadth of the Fairfax County economy, “ said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA. “These firms are the backbone of the county’s business community.”

Business growth helps Fairfax County, just outside Washington, D.C., fund public services such as a top-ranked public school system and library, public safety, social services and park systems that improve the quality of life. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and provides demographic and economic statistics.
