“EDA Reports” examines tie between quality of life and economic development
Fairfax Symphony and park foundation are highlighted
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, November 9, 2006 – The link between economic development and quality of life is the focus of the latest edition of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority’s (FCEDA) “EDA Reports” television show on Fairfax County’s Channel 16.
Two mainstays of the community – the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (FSO) and the Fairfax County Park Foundation – illustrate how cultural and recreation groups contribute to the county’s quality of life, which in turn encourages economic development. Also, economic development creates a strong business community, which contributes time, energy and money to organizations such as the FSO and the park foundation.
“There is a strong connection between economic development and a vibrant cultural community,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA. “A dynamic business community supports the arts while an area with an exceptional quality of life makes an attractive location for businesses.”
Topics covered during the latest “EDA Reports” include the FSO’s 50th anniversary; the opening of Clemyjontri Park, which is designed for youngsters with disabilities, and efforts to preserve open land for parks and recreational uses.
Guests are William Hudson, music director of the FSO; Stephen Thormahlen, chairman of the Fairfax County Park Foundation; and Dr. Gordon.
"EDA Reports" airs on the following days and times on Fairfax County Cable - Channel 16:
