Fairfax County EDA welcomes new SCORE counselor to advise business people
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, August 28, 2007 – The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) and Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) announced the appointment of entrepreneur and technology expert David Krauskopf as a resident counselor who will offer weekly business counseling sessions. SCORE volunteers are working or retired business owners, executives and corporate leaders who share their wisdom and lessons learned with small businesses. SCORE is a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Krauskopf’s specialty is advising start-ups in business planning, marketing and finance, and he is an experienced entrepreneur and general manager of profitable privately held companies. He has direct experience in the software, computer, retail, travel and hospitality industries.
"The services provided by the SCORE counselors have proven to be invaluable to people who are trying to start a new business or bolster the productivity of an existing business,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “The fact that the SCORE counselors have such impressive backgrounds in business translates into real-world lessons for the next generation of entrepreneurs."
Krauskopf served as general manager of Apple Computer in Russia from 1993 to 1999, and owned the exclusive representative rights for Apple Computer in Russia and Ukraine. He developed, and is a shareholder in, a high-end boutique resort that opened in 2000 in Belize.
The Fairfax County resident holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and an undergraduate degree in management from Miami University in Ohio. Krauskopf has also held advisory board positions in tech start-ups such as TravelPost (acquired by Sidekick) and currently Payment Pathways Inc. (PPI). He also founded a printing and press room solutions company in Russia in 1996.
Krauskopf will hold counseling sessions for business start-ups, existing business owners and FCEDA clients every Wednesday at FCEDA headquarters in Tysons Corner. Sessions are one hour long and by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, contact the FCEDA at 703-790-0600 or info@fceda.org. For more information about SCORE, visit www.score.org.
Business growth helps Fairfax County fund programs—such as the nation’s top-rated school system and public safety, library, park and human services—which contribute to the quality of life of its residents.
