Fairfax County EDA President Gordon makes appearance on national television

CNBC interview touts many benefits of international business attraction effort

Fairfax County, Virginia USA, December 7, 2007 – Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), appeared today on CNBC, the national business TV channel, about the benefits of having a dynamic international business community in Fairfax County.

CNBC chose Gordon for the “Street Signs” program because of the FCEDA’s aggressive and successful international marketing programs. The FCEDA maintains an International Division to work with foreign-owned firms interested in expanding into the U.S. market. The FCEDA also maintains offices in Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.

Gordon told “Street Signs” anchor Erin Burnett that foreign-owned companies create jobs and wealth, build diversity and a more cosmopolitan community.

The report included graphics on the number of foreign-owned firms in the county (361 in fiscal 2007) and the countries with the most companies represented in Fairfax County (the United Kingdom, South Korea, Canada, India and France are the top five this year).
