Fairfax County EDA works with 144 companies in 2006 that will add 6,417 jobs to local economy
Twenty-three firms in fourth quarter announced 1,259 jobs
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, February 7, 2007- More than 6,400 jobs were or will be added to the Fairfax County economy by 144 companies that used Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) services and resources during 2006. Most of the firms announcing new jobs are information technology or professional services companies.
In the fourth quarter alone, 23 firms announced 1,259 jobs. A complete list of all announcements for the year is on the FCEDA’s Web site at www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org/06announce.htm.
Companies announcing the largest job growth during the year include:

- Communications Technologies Inc. (COMTek) (150 jobs)
- Davis Paige Management Systems (125 jobs)
- HCA Capital Division (100 jobs)
- Infinitive (100 jobs)
- Information Innovators, Inc. (126 jobs)
- ITT-Advanced Engineering & Sciences (115 jobs)
- KSI, Inc. (Kettler) (132 jobs)
- ManTech International Corporation (412 jobs)
- MorganFranklin Corporation (100 jobs)
- PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP (488 jobs)
- Sunrise Senior Living (114 jobs)
- SunRocket (100 jobs)
- Triumph Technologies Inc. (125 jobs)
Thirteen Korean firms and five Israeli firms also said they would add new jobs to the county. Overseas firms are increasingly attracted to Fairfax County because of the proximity to the federal government and strong IT sectors.
“This past year was a very productive one for the Fairfax County EDA,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA. “We solidified our leadership position as the Washington region’s leading location for IT firms from the United States and abroad.”
“ManTech has been supporting the advanced-technology, national security efforts of the U.S. government since 1968, and the last 15 years we have been headquartered in Fairfax County,” said George J. Pedersen, chairman and CEO of ManTech International Corporation. “Since we have been in Fairfax County our business has quadrupled in size to our current level where we expect revenues for 2006 will exceed $1.1 billion. Locating in Fairfax County, with its highly-skilled work force, excellent schools and close proximity to our federal government customers, has definitely contributed to our growth and success.”
Business growth helps Fairfax County, just outside Washington, D.C., fund public services such as a top-ranked public school system and library, public safety, social services and park systems that improve the quality of life.
