Export development workshops available for companies interested in expanding abroad

FCEDA offers certificate program for second year in a row

Fairfax County, Virginia USA, January 23, 2007 - The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) is hosting a series of three workshops for small business owners and entrepreneurs who are interested in entering the export market. Topics will include an overview of state and federal government resources, market research, the exporting process and export financing. Participants will learn best practices for selling a product or services and how to receive payment for exports.

The seminar series is presented in partnership with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the U.S. Commercial Service branch of the U.S. Department of Commerce. This is the second year in a row that the FCEDA has presented workshops.

The workshops will be held January 30, February 27 and March 27, 2007. Participants will receive a Certificate of Training for attending all three sessions. There is no charge for the workshops but pre-registration is required.

All sessions will be held at the FCEDA offices in Tysons Corner ( 8300 Boone Blvd., Suite 450, Vienna, Virginia 22182). For more information or to register for the workshop, call 703-790-0600 or sign up online at www.fairfaxcountyeda.org/export_workshop_form.htm.

In addition to the export workshop series, the FCEDA provides export counseling services through an arrangement with an international trade specialist from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. There is no charge for this service but appointments are required.

“Exporting generates business opportunities and wealth, and these seminars are a tremendous opportunity for Fairfax County firms that are interested in taking their business beyond America’s shores,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.
