Fairfax County EDA works with 29 businesses that will create more than 1,500 jobs

Fairfax County, Virginia USA, July 23, 2007 — Twenty-nine businesses that used Fairfax County Economic Development Authority services in the second quarter of 2007 will create 1,513 jobs in Fairfax County . Most of the companies creating jobs are American and foreign-owned firms in the information technology and professional services sectors.

Among the businesses that will add jobs in Fairfax County:

• Apogen Technologies, an information technology services firm, will add 266 jobs.
• USIS, which provides security, staffing and training solutions for government clients, will create 206 jobs.
• Norway ’s Tandberg, Inc., which provides teleconferencing applications, will create 90 jobs.
• George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens will add 74 jobs.

“USIS moved its corporate headquarters to Fairfax County so we could be closer to our largest customer, the federal government,” said Randy E. Dobbs, CEO of USIS. “The area had the right combination of quality of services, transportation access, and availability of top talent in terms of recruiting new people for our organization. We see a strong competitive advantage for a leading security and security services company to be headquartered in this area.”
