Fairfax County EDA works with 16 companies that will create
625 jobs
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, May 7, 2007 — Sixteen
companies that used Fairfax County Economic Development Authority
(FCEDA) services and resources during the first quarter of
2007 will add more than 600 jobs to the Fairfax County economy.
Many of the firms announcing new jobs are from IT and services
sectors.
Among the companies that will add jobs in Fairfax County:
- AMERICAN SYSTEMS, one of the largest employee-owned companies
in the United States, is adding 215 jobs.
- Snap Inc., an SBA-certified 8(a) small disadvantaged business,
is creating 80 jobs.
- Phoenix Consulting Group, Inc., which is based in Huntsville,
Ala., and has offices on Richmond Highway, is adding 50 jobs.
- Camero Inc., an Israel-based company that is developing “through-wall” imaging
technology, is creating six jobs.
“With its proximity to our primary customer base, Fairfax
County is an excellent location from which to pursue our aggressive
organic growth strategy,” said Bill Hoover, President
and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS. “The county also provides
a great recruiting base with a highly-skilled workforce, which
enables us to respond rapidly to our customers’ requirements.”

Business growth helps Fairfax County, just outside Washington,
D.C., fund public services such as a top-ranked public school
system and library, public safety, social services and park
systems that improve the quality of life. Fairfax County offers
a well-educated workforce, diverse real estate opportunities,
access to domestic and international markets through Washington
Dulles International Airport, and a business community based
on technology and professional services. On October 24-25,
2007, Fairfax County will host the 2007 National Conference
on the Creative Economy (www.creativeeconomies.org).
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org),
which has been recognized by Site Selection magazine as one
of the top economic development groups, promotes Fairfax County
as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses
by identifying possible sites and facilities, and provides
demographic and economic statistics. The FCEDA’s Capital
Attraction Program links technology entrepreneurs with potential
investors, and another program supports the growth of small
and minority-owned companies. The FCEDA maintains overseas
offices in Silicon Valley, Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul
and Tel Aviv.
