Four Fairfax County-based companies make Fortune’s 2008
“100 Best Companies to Work for” list

Fairfax County, Virginia USA, January 29, 2008 – Four Fairfax County-based companies – MITRE, Navy Federal Credit Union, Booz Allen Hamilton and SRA International – made FORTUNE magazine’s 2008 list of the 100 best companies to work for in America.

MITRE (ranked 42nd), Booz Allen Hamilton (ranked 81st) and SRA International (ranked 99th) are on the list together for the second straight year. Navy Federal Credit Union (ranked 78th) is on the list for the first time.
The companies from Fairfax County are among seven companies from Virginia named to the FORTUNE list. Three companies from Maryland made the list, as did six from Washington, D.C. Fairfax County had more companies on the list than 45 states. The list appears in the February 4 issue of FORTUNE.

To pick the best companies for employees, FORTUNE conducts extensive employee surveys and bases its rankings on the results, along with written applications from each business. For more information about the 2008 “Best Companies to Work For” list, visit http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/.

“Fairfax County has worked hard to be attractive to companies that value the talents and creativity of their employees, and this year’s FORTUNE list is a reflection of that commitment,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA). Fairfax County hosted the 2007 National Conference on the Creative Economy. FORTUNE sponsored the conference.

Business growth helps Fairfax County fund award-winning public school, library, safety, human services and park systems that improve the quality of life. Fairfax County offers diverse real estate options, access to domestic and international markets through Washington Dulles International Airport, a business community based on technology and professional services, and a well-educated workforce.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center.  Fairfax County is the Washington, D.C., area’s private-sector job leader, is a major hub for regional economic activity, and has been called “one of the great economic success stories of our time.”  The FCEDA maintains marketing offices in San Francisco, Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
