Fairfax County EDA works with 17 businesses
that will add 296 jobs to the local economy
Fairfax County, Virginia USA, May 9, 2008—Businesses offering information technology and professional services lead the 17 firms that used Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) services in the first quarter of 2008 and will create 296 jobs in Fairfax County.
Local companies adding jobs include Harmony Information Systems, which develops health and human services software and will add 45 jobs, and DLT Solutions, which sells IT products and services to government agencies and will add 40 positions. Foreign-owned firms working with the FCEDA include Norwegian company OCAS, which develops airline collision avoidance systems and will create four jobs, and Netherlands-based smart card technology developer Bell ID, which will create five jobs.
“DLT Solutions’ headquarters in Fairfax County has served us well in our mission to provide our vendor partners and public sector customers with fast, flexible, responsive support,” said Rick Marcotte, CEO of DLT Solutions, Inc. “Our proximity to vendor partners and public sector customers has enabled us to build deep relationships with both. Plus, the access in this area to a highly developed workforce has allowed us to build an aggressive team of sales, marketing and technical professionals who are driven to succeed.”
“Fairfax County continues to add jobs even as the general economy stalls,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “This growth helps the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors pay for services that a growing and changing population needs.”
