County Economic Development Authority Retains Tokyo Representation
Fairfax County, Virginia, June 24, 1997 The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) announced that it has retained the services of Regency International Trading Co., Ltd. in Tokyo, to promote Fairfax County to Japanese businesses. Fairfax County is the only jurisdiction in the greater Washington region to have permanent representation in Japan.
"Fairfax County is very fortunate to have 14 Japanese-owned firms in the County, including Fujitsu, Hitachi Data Systems, NEC America and Nissan Motor Corporation," said Patricia Woolsey, chairman of the FCEDA. "Our contract with Regency International Trading Company demonstrates our commitment to cultivating additional business relationships in Japan."
Among their promotional efforts on behalf of the FCEDA, Regency International Trading Co., will generate prospects in Japan that will result in commercial investment in Fairfax County and the creation of new jobs. The FCEDA office in Tokyo will build long-term relationships with Japanese companies to promote the County as a business location for technology firms and the host site of the 1998 World Congress on Information Technology.
As part of the contract with the FCEDA, Minoru Fujimaki, vice president for marketing, Regency Trading Co., and John H. McMillan, a former resident of the County and vice president of Regency International Trading Co., will represent Fairfax County in Japan.
For almost 10 years, Mr. Fujimaki has been a corporate high-tech manager and advisor, successfully developing business in Japan for U.S.-based technology companies, such as Motorola, Texas Instruments, and BDM. His experience in dealing with the development and marketing needs of global information technology, manufacturing and securities companies demonstrates his ability to successfully bridge international markets.
Mr. McMillan has an extensive history as a consultant to information technology businesses and Japan client companies with business interests in manufacturing, marketing and distribution of high-tech product lines.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority provides services and information designed to promote Fairfax County as a business location for domestic and international companies and organizations.
