Fairfax County Convention and Visitors Bureau Expands Web Site for Residents and Visitors www.VisitFairfax.org
Fairfax County, Virginia, October 20, 1997 The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority announced that it has expanded its Web site www.VisitFairfax.org into a comprehensive database for obtaining information on Fairfax County and its tourism-related businesses, historic attractions and leisure accommodations. The site assists both County residents and visitors.
The CVB added new pages to the Web site, many of which link to a variety of existing Web sources, making the CVB Web site a storehouse of Fairfax County information. Web site users can now make travel arrangements directly on-line, locate maps and directions to places within the County and easily research the recreational and entertainment options available in the area.
"The new site is extensive and yet still user-friendly," says Patricia Woolsey, chairman of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. "It helps match up citizens who desire Fairfax County products and services with County organizations that provide those products and services. It benefits everyone."
Changes in the CVB Web site include the following:
- Updated references to the CVB's services now allow users to better identify how the CVB can help them in planning meetings, locating group tour itineraries and other similar items. The Web site now includes various direct e-mail links to the CVB, so users can more easily contact them for more information
- Getting to and Around Fairfax County offers information on air service at Washington Dulles International and Washington National airports, links to on-line flight schedules and reservations, Amtrak train schedules and on-line reservations, car rental information and on-line reservations and local mass transit schedules, route and fare information.
- Hotel information and reservations for every Fairfax County hotel. The site provides a Web page that includes a photograph of the hotel, a narrative describing its location and amenities, the number of meeting rooms and services and a locator map with interactive door-to-door directions to the hotel from the user's point of origin. From the site, users may also check room availability, set room preferences and reserve a room on-line.
- The Entertainment page provides links to entertainment options within the County and the region, including area events, restaurants, theater, night life, movie listings and local television programming.
- The Current Fairfax County News and Information page provides links to local newspapers and news sources.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau is a division of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA).
