Fairfax County Economic Development Authority Sponsors AlleyCat News Northeast Venture Conference September 14-15, 1999 in New York City

Lou Dobbs to keynote; Ann Winblad, Candice Carpenter and others to speak

Fairfax County, Virginia, August 17, 1999 -- Investors, entrepreneurs, and professional service providers will convene at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City, September 14-15 for the First Annual Northeast Venture Capital Conference presented by AlleyCat News magazine.

AlleyCat News, the monthly magazine that covers the business of Internet and technology companies in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut,  has brought together a distinguished group of speakers and company presenters — all key players in the growth of the digital economy — to discuss a topics pertinent  to the venture capital community and the information technology industry.

Lou Dobbs, one of the country's most prominent financial journalists,  and most recently, founder, Chairman and CEO of a new Internet company, space.com, will keynote the event, discussing his new venture and the future of the Internet economy.   

Conference attendees will gain valuable incite from a roster of industry pundits, including, among others, iVillage Chief Executive Officer Candice Carpenter, the U.S. Information Agency's Associate Director for Information and Chief Technology Officer Jonathan Spalter, and Hummer Winblad Partner and technology investment futurist Ann Winblad.

Also, there will be presentations by over 50 leading Internet/technology ventures.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority has an aggressive capital attraction program to bring together venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. With Red Herring magazine the FCEDA this year has also sponsored venture events in Boston, Atlanta, London and Lake Tahoe, and also is a co-sponsor of the quarterly Grubstake Breakfast program presented by the Century Club of George Mason University.
