미국 버지니아 주 페어팩스 카운티 경제개발국(www.fairfaxcountyeda.org)은World IT Show의 부대행사로 미국 시장 진출에 관심 있는 한국 기업들을 위해 <미국 IT시장 및 정부조달시장 진출 전략 세미나>를 6월 17일 COEX에서 개최하였다.

World IT Show는 한국 최대 규모의 IT 전시회로 다양한 IT 분야의 산업에 종사하는 50여명이 본 세미나에 참석하였으며, 한국 기업들이 미국 내 정부조달 시장 및 상업시장에서 어떻게 사업을 확대해 나갈 수 있을 지에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 이루어졌다.  또한, 한국의 미국연방정부조달 종합컨설팅 회사인 해외조달컨설팅㈜에서 미국정부조달시장 접근을 위한 전략 및 정부조달 계약 입찰 제도 등을 포함한 포괄적인 미국 정부조달시스템에 관해 설명하였다.

Living in Fairfax County

Once a farming community neighboring the nation's capital, today Fairfax County is a major business center in the Washington, D.C. area. The county is the largest jurisdiction in the Washington area and contains some of its most desirable residential communities.

Contracting and Procurement

Many Fairfax County firms, especially in the information technology sector, receive government contracts to procure goods or perform services. The federal government spends more than $200 billion a year in private sector procurement. Spending by state and local governments pushes that figure even higher. Federal government contracts with Fairfax County companies reached $17 billion in fiscal year 2008 ($12 billion in Department of Defense contracts and $5 billion in contracts with all other federal agencies), up from $13.6 billion in fiscal year 2007.
