When was your company established?
Dennis Fitzgerald founded 24 Hour Company as a traditional graphic design firm in 1992.
What is the origin of your company name?
Our name was originally created to speak for our dedication. Particularly in the federal contracting arena you need support that is completely dedicated to your project 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! Over the years the name has come to mean many different things from answering the phone at four in the morning, promising less than 24-hour turn around time on projects and everything in between. Most people remember the “24 Hour” part of our name and sometimes shorten it to just “24 Hour” or occasionally we have become the “24 Hour Guys” or “24 Hour Graphics.”
Who owns your company?
To provide a growing client base with unique, new services, the company added three new partners: Mike Parkinson and Paul Kay in 1999, and Colleen Jolly in 2004. Looking for opportunities to expand and better serve the bid and proposal market, 24 Hour Company established a presence in the United Kingdom to serve a broader international community. In 2008 24 Hour Company opened an office in Kent, which relocated to Central London in 2010.
What is the main business focus of your Fairfax County office?
After Dennis founded the company in 1992, he quickly realized the opportunity to focus on an underserved niche in the Washington, DC area. He transitioned the company into one whose primary clients are business development professionals who bid on government and commercial contract work. The majority of our work (more than 90%) is in federal proposals.
Who are your primary customers?
The majority of our clients are U.S. federal contractors and many of them regularly appear on the top 50 and 100 federal contractor lists. We also have clients who are small 8a firms as well as medium-size enterprises. It is very rewarding to assist a small company to win sufficient contracts to graduate to the full and open competitions.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
24 Hour Company specializes in a very particular niche within the already small industry of proposal professionals. We provide visual communications solutions typically in the form of designing graphics, covers, page layout and presentation design in support of winning new business. We apply the science of design and information graphics to create visuals that enhance your message by informing your audience and ultimately persuading them to buy your product or service.
What are the advantages of your Fairfax County location?
Fairfax County is the perfect location for our business! Falls Church is in the middle of many of our clients being equidistant from DC and the Dulles corridor with easy access to major roads, Metro and the bus services. We are also fortunate to have a great number of restaurants in the area – we provide lunch as a benefit to our employees and have an amazing variety. As we continue to grow internationally, we reap the benefits of being so close to Dulles airport which has multiple flights daily to London.
Where do you see your business in five to 10 years?
In five to ten years we would like to be doubled in size in the U.S. and have grown our U.K. operation to maintain at least a staff of five full time designers. We would ideally be investigating or starting offices in other countries, such as Australia, and continuing to educate people on the benefit of high quality visual communications.
