When was your company established?
AOC Key Solutions, Inc. (Key Solutions) has roots dating back to 1983; over 27 years ago.
What is the origin of your company name?
At the time of its formation, Key Solutions conducted business as American Operations Corporation (AOC). AOC was initially formed to conduct business with American companies involved in operating government contracts. Over time, we created a separate brand identity to provide consulting services. That brand is now known as Key Solutions. We chose this name because we believe we are the key to winning government contracts.
Who owns your company? Key Solutions is privately held and is owned by Jim McCarthy, Chief Executive Officer; Richard Nathan, President; Kevin Berrigan, Chief Financial Officer and Greg McCarthy, Chief Client Officer.
What is the main business focus of your Fairfax County office?

Our customers are contractors to the federal government. Our clients range in size from the largest contractors to small, but growing, 8(a) companies. We have served over a third of the Top 100 federal contractors as published by Washington Technology and over two dozen of our clients are members of the Fortune 500. We are proud to have played a role in the success of each of our clients.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Key Solutions has established Principle-Centered Winning (PCW); a different way of thinking, conducting business, and creating value for our clients. PCW is focused on winning—but winning the right way, not just anyway. PCW is a code of conduct, a set of ethical principles and rules. PCW is based on service, sacrifice where necessary, and always acting in the paramount interests of our clients. PCW is a challenge to conventional business wisdom. Using PCW, Key Solutions supports a full range of business development activities under three services; Advance Marketing Services; Strategic Support Services, and Bid and Proposal Support Services. Key Solutions works with its clients to identify opportunity-rich market sectors, implement strategic capture processes, and develop and deliver winning proposals.
1. Our “front-end” market assessments are instrumental in the development of market penetration strategies that provide an enhanced return on our client’s marketing investment dollar. Our responsive and in-depth assessment of particular opportunities provides our clients with the information needed to make timely pursue/no pursue decisions and to begin the development of a winning capture strategy.
2. Key Solutions assists its clients to develop the thematic and conceptual framework for winning business in the federal marketplace. Our strategic process of opportunity capture provides an orderly approach to generate specific products that enable our clients to formally characterize an opportunity and develop a strategic framework within which a successful offer can be prepared. We conduct an in-depth assessment of the customer and the objectives of the procurement.
3. Key Solutions assists its clients to develop and deliver a proposal that will enhance their chances of being selected as the winning bidder. Our proposal process represents the tactical execution of the Win Strategy and Offer Design developed as part of the strategic process. The heart of the proposal process is a detailed, well-documented Proposal Plan that serves as a roadmap for developing and submitting a winning proposal. We also assist our clients with detailed Orals Plan that supplement the Proposal Plan in the event that there is a requirement to provide an oral presentation as part of the response.
Key Solutions provides these services on a turnkey basis, or selectively delivers our proven Key Solutions advantage processes and tools to augment our client's existing capabilities.
