When was your company established?
The company today known as BAE Systems was established in 1999. We trace our history to 1560, when the Royal Powder Factory was created near London.

What is the origin of your company name?
We are the successor to a long line of aircraft and defense electronics companies, including the Marconi Company, the first commercial company devoted to the development and use of radio; A.V. Roe & Co., one of the world's first aircraft companies; de Havilland, maker of the world's first commercial jet airliner; and British Aerospace, an aircraft, munitions and defense systems company.
The name BAE Systems reflects the 1999 merger of British Aerospace and Marconi Electronic Systems.
