When was your company established?
In 2003, First Line Technology began as the United States master distributor for Swedish Emergency Disaster Equipment (SWEDE), a total solution provider for nuclear, biological, and chemical emergencies. Today, First Line is an 8(A) small business supplier of out of the box solutions for first responders and the military.

What is the origin of your company name?
First Line Technology aims to be the first line of top-quality products that first responders turn to when disaster strikes.

Who owns your company?
The company is privately held.

What is the main business focus of your Fairfax County office?
First Line Technology’s Chantilly office is the location of both the corporate headquarters as well as the firm's research and development facilities. At this location, First Line maintains corporate, sales, and marketing teams who work closely with R&D to produce products that are in demand from our Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) customers.

Who are your primary customers?
We serve U.S. and allied military services, government agencies, public health agenciesorganizations, and the commercial industry with our range of products.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
As a sole-source total solution provider for emergency first response equipment, First Line works directly with manufacturers and subject matter experts to provide current solutions for emergency response missions. First Line has established itself as a leader in new product development and deployment with innovative and simple solutions like PhaseCore Personal Cooling Products and the AmbuBus, Bus-Stretcher Conversion Kit.

How many employees do you have and how many do you anticipate hiring in the next 12 months?
We currently have five full-time and two part-time employees plus an international fleet of sales representatives and distributors. Our sales team has representatives in six states, Canada, the Netherlands and Australia. Our full-fledged partners include SWEDE, TST Sweden, and Swedish Emergency Medical Systems (SEMS). We plan to hire four full-time employees for the Chantilly office before the end of 2010.

What are the advantages of your Fairfax County location?
First Line is headquartered and strategically located next to Dulles International Airport, within close proximity to Washington, D.C. and the Pentagon. This enables First Line to provide disaster response to the capital region and the entire nation without being caught in the disaster.

Where do you see your business in five to 10 years?
We plan to significantly expand our product lines while, at the same time, grow our international business.
