2. What is the origin of your company name?
ScienceLogic founders David Link (CEO), Richard Chart (Vice President, Product Development) and Chris Cordray (CTO) started the company in 2003 to build and convince the world to embrace a better way of managing complex IT environments. They decided ScienceLogic was a practical name for this practical endeavor. With years of experience managing complex IT infrastructures, they had become frustrated with traditional complicated and costly IT operations management systems that never delivered on the promised value. Link, Chart and Cordray built the ScienceLogic EM7 IT platform in their Reston, Va. basements, to make IT operations and management staff more efficient and better able to support the business. All three founders are still with the company.

3. Who owns your company? 
A majority of the company’s stock is owned by the three founders and NEA (New Enterprise Associates, Inc.), a leading venture capital and growth equity firm.

4. What is the main business focus of your Fairfax County office? 
The ScienceLogic Fairfax County office serves as the company’s headquarters housing human resources, accounting, software development, sales, marketing and other company functions.

5. Who are your primary customers?
Service providers, mid-sized enterprises, and government entities.

6. What sets you apart from your competitors? 
ScienceLogic technology offers customers the ability to manage IT operations and optimize business service delivery across any mix of computing resources including physical, virtual and cloud, all from one product. Competing tools do not provide the comprehensive, centralized management today’s organizations need to run IT in support of the business, instead offering multiple, costly modules that require extensive integration work or point solutions that provide limited views into an IT infrastructure.

8. What are the advantages of your Fairfax County location? 
Advantages include a highly educated workforce, proximity to our federal customers, excellent school systems and a fun metropolitan place to live that helps us recruit new talent to move to the area.

9. Where do you see your business in five to 10 years? 
ScienceLogic will continue to grow and become one of the main IT and cloud management providers in the industry.
