When was your company established?
The company was previously called VSNL. In 1986, the Tata Group, a rapidly growing business group based in India with significant international operations (revenues in 2007-08 are estimated at $62.5 billion of which 61 per cent is from business outside India. The Group employs around 350,000 people worldwide), acquired a strategic stake in the company.

What is the origin of your company name?
VSNL was renamed Tata Communications in February 2008. The Tata name has been respected in India for 140 years for its adherence to strong values and business ethics.

Who owns your company?
The Tata Group holds 51 percent, the government of India 26.12 percent , with the remainder held by retail and institutional investors.

What is the main business focus of your Fairfax County office?
The Fairfax County office handles business operations, sales and sales support.

Who are your primary customers?
Our customers are in the enterprise, carrier and wholesale markets.  We also have channel partners across a variety of industries including IT, consulting, and software technologies.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We have a unique strength in emerging markets where we have built up the largest privately owned subsea fiber optic cable system.  We have built assets on the global communications system including collocation and data centers where we bring our customers additional value with managed services.

The company predicts organic sales growth through FY12 and growth in all its focus markets.
