Eleven Fairfax County companies named to annual Hispanic Business 500 list

Fairfax County, Virginia USA, Monday, June 28, 2010 -

Eleven Fairfax County-based companies, including nine in technology-related fields, are among the 500 largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the nation based on revenue, according to the June issue of Hispanic Business magazine.

The Fairfax County companies are among 18 from Virginia on the 2010 Hispanic Business 500 list. In the Washington, D.C., area, 11 other companies are from Maryland and four are from the District of Columbia.

“I am extremely proud that Fairfax County can claim so many companies on the Hispanic Business 500 list from around the Washington area,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA). “This illustrates our strength in information technology as well as this community’s attractiveness to people of all backgrounds who want to operate a business and be successful.”

Ranked by 2009 revenue, here are the 11 Fairfax County companies on the 2010 Hispanic Business 500 and their location in Fairfax County:

217. Citizant, Chantilly
246. Communications Resource, Inc., Tysons Corner
433. Engineering, Management & Integration, Inc., Herndon
468. MAC Aerospace Corp., Chantilly

New to this year’s list is McLean-based Communications Resource, Inc. Together these companies generated more than $500 million in revenue and employed 5,053 workers in 2009, according to Hispanic Business. The 500 largest U.S. Hispanic-owned companies reported combined revenues of $30.1 billion.

Five Fairfax County-based companies are on the 2010 Black Enterprise magazine list of the 100 largest African American-owned companies in the United States. Fairfax County’s diverse business community includes the largest concentration in the Washington area of small disadvantaged companies participating in the 8(a) business development program of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The FCEDA’s Small and Minority Business Development Division supports the growth of these enterprises by organizing and hosting workshops that showcase local, state and federal resources available to entrepreneurs and small businesses and by hosting SCORE business counselors.
