Fairfax County, Virginia USA, Monday, November 30, 2009 -

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on November 16 appointed Catherine Lange to the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) Commission. She will serve a four-year term on the Commission, which is the governing body of the FCEDA. She replaces Will Soza on the Commission.

Ms. Lange is founder, president and CEO of BusinessWorks of America, Inc., a management consulting and leadership development firm formed in 1995. She has more than 35 years of business experience, with more than 20 years at two Fortune 500 technology companies – Digital Equipment Corporation and Burroughs Corporation – followed by nearly 15 years as a small business owner.

“I am excited to be appointed to the Commission because of the essential work the FCEDA does in building the Fairfax County economy and in maintaining the quality of life we enjoy here,” Ms. Lange said.

“We are delighted to have Cathy on the Commission,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA. “As a longtime member of the business community here, she understands the importance of the FCEDA’s mission, and as an entrepreneur and small business owner she brings valuable insight to the work of the authority.”

She is a board member of the Northern Virginia Community Foundation and serves on the advisory board for Fairfax Futures. She is a co-founder and former president of the Angels Network, a charity focused on women helping others. Ms. Lange holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. She lives in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County, is married and has a teen-aged daughter.
