12th annual event to feature U.S. and U.K. perspectives on future of transatlantic business
The future of transatlantic business will be discussed at a November 8 business networking event in central London hosted by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA).
“The Future of Transatlantic Business – U.K.-U.S. Perspectives,” to be held at One Whitehall Place, will be the 12th annual transatlantic business networking reception presented by the FCEDA in conjunction with BritishAmerican Business. Keynote speakers will be Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA, and Jeffries Briginshaw, managing director of BritishAmerican Business/London.
Gordon will speak from a U.S. perspective and Mr Briginshaw will offer his views from a U.K. and EU perspective. The event is expected to attract in excess of 100 business executives from around the U.K. as well as from the United States. Citi, ETS Advisory, Squire Sanders and U.K. Trade and Investment are sponsors of the event.
“The commercial relationship between our two countries is of keen interest to our target audience,” Gordon said. “As in previous years, this year’s event will be an occasion for top business people from both sides of the Atlantic to network and form new relationships.”
The U.S. is the U.K.’s biggest business partner, and there are more than 75 British companies with operations in Fairfax County.
Speakers at previous events include Sir Richard Lambert, former Director-General of the Confederation of British Industry; Business Secretary Vince Cable MP; former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine; former QinetiQ Chairman and CEO Sir John Chisholm; and former group chairman of HSBC, Sir Stephen Brown.
“Attendees will be able also to network widely with a broad spectrum of business representatives, many of whom are already engaging very successfully in transatlantic business,” Gordon said.
“The FCEDA has for more than a decade been building relations with businesses and industry organizations throughout Britain and I believe Fairfax County provides excellent opportunities for other U.K. companies who hope to enter the U.S. market in the coming years,” Gordon said.
