Fairfax County EDA works with 26 businesses that will add 1,056 jobs to the local economy

Fairfax County, Virginia USA, Friday, August 13, 2010 -

During the second quarter of 2010, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA, www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org) provided services and resources to 26 businesses that have created or will create more than 1,000 jobs in Fairfax County.

Most of the companies that worked with the FCEDA in the second quarter are American and foreign-owned firms in the information technology and professional services sectors. Among the businesses that said they will add jobs in Fairfax County:

  • professional services firm KPMG LLP, which will add 372 jobs to the Fairfax County economy;
  • defense and government contracting firm ManTech International Corporation, which will add 153 jobs;
  • IT services firm Agilex Technologies, Inc., which is expanding by 130 jobs.

“The Northern Virginia Technology Council recently honored Agilex as the region’s Hottest Emerging Government Contractor. The significant growth that we are experiencing further underscores our success,” said Jay H. Nussbaum, chief operating officer of Agilex Technologies.  “Our success is also a great testament to the opportunities available in Fairfax County.  The workforce, infrastructure and business climate here are second-to-none.”

“The high-quality jobs being created by these companies tell us that Fairfax County is, once again, leading other employment centers out of the economic downturn,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA. “These companies will fill office space, which will boost the commercial tax base from which the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors funds public services. That is the value of such an aggressive economic development program.”
