Fairfax County, Virginia USA, Monday, February 11, 2013 -
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) has selected Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications Inc. to run the FCEDA’s new Boston marketing efforts and work with New England companies considering expansion to the Washington, D.C., area for business opportunities.
Founded in 1997 and with offices in Boston and Washington, Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications has become one of the largest independent public relations and public affairs firms in New England. Vice President Patrick Bench, a 1997 graduate of Lake Braddock Secondary School in Fairfax County, and Senior Adviser Edwin G. “Ted” Carr will direct the FCEDA’s Boston office.
“With our deep background and knowledge of the Boston area and New England business and venture capital communities, Rasky Baerlein is uniquely positioned to partner with the Fairfax County EDA to show companies the benefits that a Fairfax County location can offer as they consider expansion into new markets,” said Rasky Baerlein President Joseph T. Baerlein.
“With its concentration of IT companies, strong venture capital community, life-science initiatives and renowned academic institutions, the Boston area shares many economic similarities with the Fairfax-Washington area, and we are opening a Boston office to show New England companies how they can benefit by expanding with a Fairfax County location,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.
In addition to Boston, the FCEDA has a marketing office in the Los Angeles area. The FCEDA also is unique among local economic development organizations with an aggressive global outreach effort that includes marketing offices in Bangalore, London, Munich, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
“We are delighted to bring on Rasky Baerlein as our partner for our New England initiative,” Gordon said. “The FCEDA can be a valuable resource for Boston and New England companies that want to take advantage of the many opportunities that Fairfax County offers for expansion in the Washington area, particularly in the federal market, and the experience and background of our team at Rasky Baerlein is well-suited to making the Fairfax County case there,” Gordon said.
An award-winning full service firm, Rasky Baerlein is recognized by PR Week as one of the top 50 communications organizations in the nation. The firm was named Public Affairs Agency of the Year 2010 by The Holmes Report, a widely read and influential public relations industry publication.
