1901 Group

What does your company/organization do?

1901 Group LLC provides innovative IT solutions to public and private sector clients, leveraging our InSight™ managed service platform to provide 24x7 support for end users, data, and hybrid cloud solutions. We deliver cybersecurity, cloud services and enterprise managed services for mission critical systems that benefit from our FedRAMP authorization, ISO9001 certification, CMMI DEV/SVC Level 3 appraisals and top secret facility clearance.

When was it established?

1901 Group was established in 2009.

What is the origin of your company name?

In 1901, Ransom E. Olds created a unique assembly line for his factory.  This assembly line leveraged skills and materials in an efficient manner within a disciplined, repeatable process that quadrupled output. We believe this assembly line concept applies to IT services today. Reflecting on Olds’ innovation in 1901, we proudly named our business 1901 Group and have designed our service operations centers or “IT Factories” to deliver much-needed gains in IT infrastructure performance and situational awareness at a substantial economic value.

Has the customer base changed or do you anticipate a change?

Yes. When the company was founded in 2009, our customer base was 100 percent comprised of commercial customers to whom we provided managed services that leverage commercial best practices for 24x7 managed services, cybersecurity and cloud computing. In 2010, the U.S. federal government developed its landmark “Cloud First” policy that declared the government will leverage cloud computing to the maximum extent possible. Having developed expertise supporting commercial customers with cloud, managed services and cybersecurity, 1901 Group pivoted to the federal marketplace where we leveraged the commercial best practices to enable federal customers to transition from traditional on-site data centers, networks, systems and labor-based support models.

What sets you apart from your competitors?

A unique differentiator of 1901 Group is our FedRAMP-authorized In3 Sight™ -- an integrated IT service management platform that automates the monitoring, management and optimization of services. In3 Sight™ integrates market leading commercial and open-source products to provide the seamless capture of system data at the device level through ticketing and incident management and, ultimately, visualization. In3 Sight™uses big data analytics and machine learning to proactively identify performance, security and configuration management issues as well as the automation of cloud provisioning, management and optimization through auto scaling and elasticity engineering. 1901 Group is one of the few companies that has achieved authorization under the federal government’s Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services.

1901 Group is one of the only companies in the public sector positioned over the next 12-18 months to build substantial capacity for cloud migration, managed services and cybersecurity operations because we have: developed the right business model in the right geographic location; successfully built an integrated delivery platform and achieved FedRAMP authorization that encompass our people, process, tools and facilities; successfully constructed a highly qualified and federally cleared employee base; established a powerful recruiting pipeline within the local community and universities; developed an understanding and possess competencies with legacy, current, and emerging cloud technologies; developed a culture of investing in our people, pushing boundaries, questioning the status quo; amassed a deep understanding of the market and know that a wave of cloud migration/operations work is coming.
