McDonald Bradley, a privately-held information technology solutions provider to the government marketplace, was founded in 1985.

What is the origin of your company name?
The company name comes from the two co-founders: Sharon McDonald and James Bradley.

Who owns your company?
The executive management team is the majority owner of McDonald Bradley as a result of a 2003 buy-out. The remaining issued shares are owned predominately by key company employees.

What is your main business focus?
Core technology expertise of McDonald Bradley includes: visual intelligence services, service-oriented architectures, independent verification and validation, and web and systems development services. McDonald Bradley is a prime contractor for the Horizontal Fusion Portfolio Collateral Space Initiative at the Office of the Secretary for Defense. Under this $25 million contract, the company is involved in ensuring the secure sharing of data and functionality across U.S. classified and coalition networks.

Who are your primary customers?
The largest federal clients are the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice. State and local government customers include Fairfax County, Fairfax County Public Schools, Prince William County and the Metropolitan Washington Area Transit Authority.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
McDonald Bradley has been the driving technology force behind the successful Horizontal Fusion Program. Underway is a globally accessible, military intranet to facilitate rapid information sharing by war-fighters and intelligence analysts, providing them with improved visibility and access to intelligence and operations information through a standards-based interoperability framework.

Where do you see your company in five years?
In five years, McDonald Bradley will have strategically and systematically increased its presence in the federal government, particularly within the intelligence agencies and the law enforcement community, and will have emerged as the expert technologist on visual intelligence services and service-oriented architectures. The company is making calculated advances to support that goal by developing an extremely experienced and talented executive leadership team, by investing in additional resources and talent and by remaining focused on our strategic planning activities and core values.

How many employees do you have?
We employ 285 people as of January 2005 and plan to add 100 new positions during the year. In addition, we just increased the size of our Herndon headquarters. McDonald Bradley ranked 38th on the “Technology Fast 50” list for Virginia by Deloitte & Touche LLP in 2004. Washington Business Journal named the company as the region's 15th fastest growing company in 2004.

McDonald Bradley enthusiastically supports the community’s local charitable and civic organizations that strive to improve the quality of life of its citizens. We support the Fairfax County Schools through an executive position on the ACE Foundation Board of Trustees. Further, the company has been a long-time significant supporter to The Women’s Center in Vienna. In January 2005, we began to support Teardrops to Rainbows, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with cancer and their families at local hospitals. McDonald Bradley already has raised nearly $20,000 for Teardrops.
