Entrepreneurship 101: Starting a Business in Fairfax County
The FCEDA holds a free monthly* webinar for individuals interested in starting a business in Fairfax County. More than 5,000 people have attended one of Entrepreneurship 101 — “E101″— workshops since the program began in 2003. Workshops are held in partnership with the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD), U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Fairfax County Department of Economic Initiatives (DEI), and Community Business Partnership (CBP). The sessions provide overviews of:
- Business start-up basics (licenses and permits)
- Workforce services and training programs
- SBA financing and resources
- SDB, MBE and 8(a) certification
The webinars are generally held on the first Tuesday of each month, unless a holiday precedes the first Tuesday, in which case the date is shifted to the second Tuesday of the month. There is no charge, but pre-registration is required and the workshops almost always fill up.
Workshops in 2021 are scheduled for January 5, February 2, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1,
September 14, October 5, November 9
* No workshops are scheduled for the months of July, August and December.
