Victor Hoskins, President and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), is one of 45 experts tapped to serve on the Washington, D.C.-area’s COVID-19 Strategic Renewal Task Force. Hoskins is the only member on the task force representing one of the region’s economic development organizations.

Formed by Connected DMV, a non-profit regional collaboration, the task force includes a mix of commercial, academic, and community leaders who will work closely with Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, their respective administrations, and local governments across the region in post-pandemic economic recovery planning.

“Regional collaboration will be key to post COVID-19 economic recovery, so I am honored to represent the regional economic development community to guide how this area responds to this unprecedented crisis,” Hoskins said. “Working together is the only way this region wins in economic development, and that collaboration is even more important now.”

According to Connected DMV, each of the 45 individuals were chosen for the task force because of their deep expertise and unique perspective. The cross-sector and regional nature of this group makes it well-positioned to help the Washington, D.C., area recover and thrive following the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Scheduled to convene monthly through October, the task force will first address near-term priorities, then transition to longer-term opportunities for building a resilient and sustainable economic recovery. The task force meetings will begin in May and will be facilitated by Jack McDougle, president and CEO of the Greater Washington Board of Trade.

Upon its conclusion, the task force will present a strategy and actionable recommendations that will complement and help to integrate the efforts of regional governments. The results will set the foundation for a more robust and durable marketplace for innovators, small and large businesses, and other organizations to thrive in our nation’s capital region.

Connected DMV was launched in 2019 in collaboration with the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, and the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA offers site location and business development assistance, and connections with county and state government agencies, to help companies locate and expand in Fairfax County.
