Now hear this: The FCEDA’s popular Entrepreneurship 101: Starting a Business in Fairfax County, workshop series is set to resume on September 10. A must for anyone with plans to do business in the county, the workshops provide attendees the knowledge and tools to resolve issues with site selection, licensing, funding and job procurement and also provide networking opportunities. Bird’s-eye view: DC Inno’s Kieran McQuilkin looks at HawkEye 360, a Herndon company relying on formation-flying satellites to track radio frequencies around the globe. Founded in 2015, the company launched its three geolocation satellites in December 2018 and has plans to have a fleet of 18 in orbit by 2021, providing geospatial data that is especially useful to the military, governments and maritime shipping companies.

Going the extra Mile: The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved The Mile, a 38-acre mixed-use development in Tysons. PS Business Parks will develop the project that eventually could feature 10 buildings and six parks, including a 5-acre Signature Park that county officials envision as a “central park” with a performance stage, children’s play area and trails. Feeling Blue: In a story for Washington Business Journal subscribers, Andy Medici writes that Tysons-based Blue Delta Capital Partners is raising funds on a much greater scale than it did previously. Focusing on government services, Blue Delta’s first fund raised more than $39 million in 2015. This time, according to an SEC filing, the group’s maximum offering will be $125 million. The company lists The Tauri Group (acquired by LMI), Acentia (acquired by MAXIMUS) among its previous success stories.

Chip off the old Block: Reston-based Comscore announced a long-term agreement to provide Block Communications with measurement services for  television stations in Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio. Citybizlist broadcast a release.

Keeping it in the community: Sun Trust and BB&T banks, soon to merge, announced they will fund a three-year, $60 billion community investment plan within areas they serve. According to Mark Meltzer of the Business Journals, the Truist Bank Community Benefit Plan would include $31 billion for home purchase mortgage loans for low- and moderate-income borrowers and $7.8 billion in lending to support small businesses. The post-merger bank would rank second in the Washington region in market share.

Consolidation prize: Daytona Beach, Fla.-based Consolidated-Tomoka Land Corp. paid about $18.6 million for a 64,000-square-foot office building in Reston that is 100 percent leased to a subsidiary of General Dynamics. Citybizlist reports that Reston Metro Center II, located on about three acres on Sunrise Valley Drive, has direct frontage along the Dulles Toll Road and will be served by the future Reston Town Center Metro station.

Digital image to take charge: Electrify America, the Reston-based electric vehicle-charging company that is a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group of America,  submitted a proposal to the Unicode Consortium to introduce an emoji representing the future of transportation. Daniel Patrascu of AutoEvolution.com reports the emoji would feature a car alongside a charging station. The company says there is a lack of awareness about electric vehicles and their benefits.

Many and the jets: Year-over-year passenger counts at Washington Dulles International Airport increased by 6.4 percent in May. United Airlines saw an increase in “enplanements” of nearly 12 percent, thanks to 395 more scheduled flights. At Reagan National, enplanements on American Airlines grew nearly 6 percent, spurring an overall 3.5 percent year-over-year passenger count increase.   • CACI won a potential five-year, $645 million task order to provide device, hardware, software, and support services for U.S. military missions in Europe and Africa. ExecutiveBiz
  • Raytheon secured a potential $110 million contract to establish a cybersecurity operations center and provide related support for a country in the Middle East/North Africa region. GovConWire
  • Huntington Ingalls received a two-year, $40 million contract modification from the Navy to perform additional refueling and overhaul work on a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. ExecutiveBiz
  • Northrop Grumman received a subcontract to help Made in Space demonstrate an in-orbit manufacturing system for NASA. GovConWire
